Lurelin Village
It's not uncommon to see people fishing on the beaches near Lurelin Village. In fact, it's quite common. All along are people with fishing rods, making their living in the waters.

One young man, however, seems to be doing things a little differently.

He's short, with wheat-blonde hair tied in a small pony-tail and a distinctive blue tunic. He stands at the edge of the water, no fishing rod or spear in hand - though he does have a sword and shield on his back - and stares intently at the water. Right where his gaze is settled, there's a small pool of fish gathered.

He nods to himself, and taps at an odd, rectangular-shaped object hanging from his hip. Suddenly, there's a bright, blue ball in his hands. It glows brightly, a makes an odd, soft humm. He chucks in the water.

One more tap at the rectangular object, and then the hum becomes a chime and the chime goes...

BOOM!

Dueling Peaks Stable
Link always liked visiting Dueling Peaks Stable. It had been the first one he'd ever found - he hadn't even known stables existed before then. Or horses, either. He'd first learned about them at Dueling Peaks Stable too, which was another reason he liked it so much.

Another good reason to like the stable: he could usually find Beedle here. Except, as Link looks around the stable, trying to spot man's large beetle-shaped backback, there's no sign on him.

Huh.

Well. Someone around here's gotta want to take the 46 pieces of amber he has stashed away in his slate. Link makes a bee-line for the nearest person.

"I want to sell!"

In the sky above, a patchwork of papel picado. Below, a pit full of sugar skulls, surrounding a massive circular altar, each 'step' four feet tall and decorated with pictures. And at the very top of the altar, there were no more pictures but rather a table filled with foods Xena has never seen before. But those of another time, and another place, would know them as pan de meurto, mole chicken, and sopa azteca. All around, floating gracefully in the air despite the lack of a breeze, are orange marigolds.

She remembers nothing of how she came to this place. Her sword is drawn, and the sugar skulls crunch beneath her feet as she steps slowly through the landscape, always circling, always looking for the threat. She doesn't know how she got here, and yet she knows deep within her soul that there has been death. There has been pain.

And she hasn't seen Gabrielle in some time.

Xena steps towards the altar, her sword still raised. She looks at the pictures, and frowns. She recognises no faces, but there's something familiar...and over there, there's a picture of her. Should she know these people?

And how in Zeus's name did the artist make these pictures so...real?

[[ooc: the setting of this is the Liminal Space immediate after Moebius - so please let me know if your character is in fact a pre-Moebius vet! They don't have to be to tag in, but I'd just like to know just in case we decide to make any threads game canon]]

If Istas were a more cerebral kind of creature, she might find going on walkabout more puzzling.

At first, she had been alone. In her first world there had been the Pineapple Incident, and by the time she was done the Monks of the Moonlight Clovers were a sea of blood on their abbey floor. She had been pleased with this outcome. But the Trumps perhaps were not so much, as for the next world she found that Byerly was now at her side, and he kept insisting that savaging those who opposed them was not in fact appropriate.

Then there had been the wedding on the mountain. There had been, to Istas's great disappointment, minimal opportunities for carnage. But there had been much in the way of beautiful clothing and fashions for Istas to admire, so she considered this an acceptable outcome.

Now, yet another human had joined them, as they found themselves attending the Olympic Games of Ancient Greece. All around them, humans in peak physical condition competed in various activities while wearing the traditional sportswear of the time: absolutely nothing.

"They are not dressed properly," Istas accused, staring at the athletes.

It was supposed to all be over. Her Grandfather was back, and there wasn't any more need for Susan to be...in the family business, as it were. She could go back to being normal, and doing normal human things that didn't have anything to do with skulls or ravens or anything like that.

And if she still sometimes forgot that she was meant to be normal, and walked through a door, well...that was just a momentary lapse. She was normal most of the time, and if she just concentrated a little bit harder she was sure that she could manage to be normal all of the time as well, thank you very much.

So naturally, just when she was doing so well, it all had to go and get ruined.

OH, NO, she said with dismay, when she'd felt it settling on her as she walked out of the privy. The Duty. She wasn't supposed to be doing with! Not anymore, not with her Grandfather back! What on the Disc was her Grandfather doing, that she was getting pulled in again?

"If he's decided to...to take a day off I will...I will..." she started, before realising that following that sentence up with 'kill him' wasn't really possibly in this case. "I will tell him how disappointed I am, that's what I'll do!"

By the time she'd reached outside and called for Binky, her dreary school uniform had already transformed into the black dress she'd worn last time. And she found that suddenly, without her even realising it, there was a scythe in her arms.

"Can you take me to him?" she asked Binky, but he whinnied at her and butted his head at her pocked. She reached inside, and there was an hourglass. "Alright, alright, I'll do it. But you'd better take me to him straight after."

She looked at the hourglass. There was a name at the base - the name of someone who would soon have an appointment with Death. Or Susan Death, anyway.

[[ooc: Alright, so the idea here is that your character is dead, or about to die, and Susan has to come and reap them.]]

This post is for detailing meta on my character's Hogwarts Houses according to the Sorting Hat Chats system, which sorts characters with a Primary and Secondary House, with the Primary being defined by motivations and why they do things, while the Secondary is defined by methods and how they do things.

[This is an open post for roleplaying Characters With Pokemon - either as an AU in the Pokemon world, a 'you have suddenly appeared in the pokemon world and now have pokemon' thing, or even characters inexplicably getting pokemon in their own world by mysterious forces]

[You can set up a scenario if you wish, but the best way for this to work would probably be if you contact me and we work something out. You can also request which of my characters you'd like to play off of - just be aware that for some of them I might need to say that I'm just not feeling up to playing that particular character]

Through all of time and space, the TARDIS flew. On the outside; a blue police box, on the inside; a console room of wood and steel and candles, with buttons and glowing lights all coming together to make a kind of gothic steampunk fantasy.

For the Doctor, this was home.

"Well?" he said, almost absentmindedly fiddling with the switches and the controls on the console. "Where to next, hmm? The reign of Emperor Taizong? The fifth age of the New Savannah? Or maybe...Galsec Seven? What do you think?"

The console's central column pulsed slightly.

"Oh, don't look at me like that, old girl. You can't blame me for a moment of indecision, can you? Billions upon billions of worlds, an untold number of people and places and peculiarities to see...it's a wonder I ever manage to get anywhere at all, with so much to choose from!"

The glow of the TARDIS, quite possibly, took on a slightly pointed edge.

"Oh alright, alright, if you insist! Let's go...oh. Now that's not right."

[[ooc: Okay, the idea here is that any characters tagging in are suddenly arriving in the TARDIS. How they do is up do you: they could just walk in the door, they could just suddenly materialise with no added explanation, they could have been hiding in the swimming pool all this time and have only just decided to show themselves - whatever you like! You can keep it simple or make it some complicated conspiracy, whatever takes your fantasy.

Also, if you need some references - the inside of Eight's TARDIS basically looks like this, and Eight himself looks like this.]]

Tir Tairngire was a city that didn't exist. Well, it existed, but it existed in a space sort-of in-between dimensions. It was grounded in one, but used another as a veil so it remained hidden from the occupants of the first. It was a masterful piece of magical engineering, really--it had taken a decade to lay the foundation and a century for it to really settle, for them to really understand it.

Of course, that didn't mean hiccups didn't occasionally happen. Especially given Tir Tairngire was a city that didn't exist in a space straddling two dimensions.

Its residents called it the Tir. It had begun as a tiny settlement on a spit of nearly uninhabitable land, in the middle of the ocean, reachable only by ship or the inter-dimensional passages Shunters had managed to create. Now it was a city of almost a half-million people. The only city in the world where magical and non-magical folk lived openly, without hiding from one another. It had started as an experiment. Now it was evidence of an impossibility.

It spread out across the ocean, connected with branches of bridges and canals, supported by the underwater pillars and basements that housed the magical-science facilities and the kelp- and fish-farms. The bulk of the city was on the surface, sprawling in five precincts, four of which were named for each of the Cradles of Magic. Ireland. Africa. China. Australia. Each of them was characterised by a soaring turret that looked more like a centerpiece than a defensive object. The centers of those precincts contained most of the housing; the outside stretches contained the docks and harbours, the fisheries and surface-level farms.

The central spire contained the political centre and public services. The schools, the university, the entrance to the underwater facilities. Surrounding the spire, on that little spit of land from which the city had spread, was the Fiddler's Green, the Tir's only park. The residents were still cultivating it for produce. Flowers, they had managed. Some small trees. Bee-hives too. But the main attractions to north and south respectively were the statue of the city's founder and the etched memorial of names belonging to all those who had been killed as a result of Mevolent's war a century ago--mortal and magical both.

Corrival Deuce stood there and looked up at it, at the names in various languages and scripts recognising the dead. He reached up and touched a name of a friend not long dead, and Eachan Meritorious shimmered into existence beside him. Not the real Meritorious, of course. Real enough to look at him and smile, to even have a facsimile of recognition in his semi-transparent eyes, but he was less than an Echo. A manufactured ghost.

Meritorious hadn't died during the war, only after it. But Serpine had killed him. It counted.

"We could use you, my friend," Corrival said to him. "Not that Morwenna and Descry don't make good Elders, but there are tensions rising, and you've always been good at soothing ruffled feathers."

People had been disappearing.

Which wasn't all that unusual, really. Not in a big city like London. People went missing all the time. Maybe they wanted a new life, maybe they died, maybe they just fell through the cracks. Normal.

Except there were more than usual, many of them happened around Trafalgar Square, and people were seeing things in the western fountain. So. Not so normal. And, strictly speaking, not actual his area. The Midnight Mayor was supposed to defend the city - the city, not the people. The Aldermen were keeping an eye on things, but as long as it was just people disappearing, as far as they were concerned it was just another magical oddity. None of their concern, unless things got worse. Strictly speaking, he wasn't supposed to be dealing with this at all.

Matthew had always been very good at doing the things he wasn't supposed to.

Although now that he was here, he was starting to think that maybe the Alderman was wrong. The fountain felt...wrong. Off. Out of balance, on a deeper level.

They planted their palms on the edge of the fountain, leaning over to stare into it. Would something reach up out of it, try to make them disappear? Would they see the flickers of a vision, off the odd, far-off places they'd heard about? If they let their senses drift, flow deeper into the waters, would they be able to find what it was that was taking people away...

So.

Disneyland.

Peter Parker, sixteen year old kid from Queens and secret superhero, was in Disneyland. Why Disneyland, he had no idea. Disney World would have made much more sense - it was at least on the same side of the country as New York. But no, for some reason his school had decided to send them here on a school trip.

(Where did they even get the money? Did someone die and specify in their will that their money could only be used to send teenagers to theme parks on the other side of the country? Was the school Principal robbing banks? Maybe Peter should check that out, when he gets home. Yeah.)

What was he even going to do in Disneyland anyway? Especially since MJ had come down the the flu and hadn't been able to come. He felt so out of place here, it wasn't funny. He was used to fighting crime on the streets of New York, not...The Happiest Place on Earth.

...Wait, were they selling kid-sized Spider-man costumes here? They were! Great, even Disneyland is making money off of him now. (Was it too much to ask that Peter actually get something out of all this, just for once?)

Okay, to hell with all this. He was in Disneyland. He didn't have any crime to fight. Even supervillains weren't evil enough to attack this place. And there were rides. He was pretty sure none of them could compare to web-slinging, but if he had to be here he then he was going to enjoy it!

Now, if he could just find something that wouldn't make him wait in line for hours...

[[ooc: Feel free to set threads at any place in the park! Or, failing that, you can just have your character talk to Peter while he's glaring at Spider-man merchandise. Whatever works.]]

Tom wasn't really a fan of hospitals. His visits to them usually tended to follow whatever horribly accident had befallen Tom this time, so his memories of them weren't exactly pleasant.

But right now? Right now, Tom loved the hospital. The hospital was a wondrous, beautiful, amazing place. Look at all the nice white walls! The people busting all around! The wheelchairs tucked away into corners just waiting for Tom to steal them and go on mad wheelchair races!

And it wasn't the dark, airless cellar that Tom had spent days trapped in, going out of his mind for fear that he'd never ever get out of there alive.

So it was, Tom judged, a time for enjoying this glorious place called the hospital, and for making as much use of the ability to walk from one room to another as possible. He'd been going back and forth between all of the other's rooms, so much so that Richelle had started complaining about how he was disturbing her beauty sleep.

As part of a diplomatic gesture to avoid having another shoe thrown at him, Tom decided he would go bother Nick. Or attempt to bother Nick, anyway. Tom hadn't seen him so much yet, since he'd been off having mysterious hospital things done to his leg. Oh well, if Nick wasn't back yet Tom might entertain himself by jumping on his bed or something.

With that cheerful thought, Tom arrived at Nick's room and stuck his through the doorframe to look for him.
