Hogwarts House Sorting (Sorting Hat Chats)
This post is for detailing meta on my character's Hogwarts Houses according to the Sorting Hat Chats system, which sorts characters with a Primary and Secondary House, with the Primary being defined by motivations and why they do things, while the Secondary is defined by methods and how they do things.

Matthew Swift / The Blue Electric Angels
Burned Hufflepuff Primary, Ravenclaw secondary with Slytherin Model
Matthew is a Burned Hufflepuff Primary, with the root cause of the burning being his death (where he was murdered by the shadow of his own teacher), and then resurrection two years later to find almost all of his friends were now dead or gone, killed by that same shadow. This had a massive effect on his personality, making him infinitely more paranoid and wary of others, and drastically shrinking the number of people he is willing to get close to.
But there's still indications of the Hufflepuff he used to be - he's deeply critical of the Aldermen, specifically because their job is saving the buildings of London and not the people. He's been known to decide that people he barely knows are worth going to extreme lengths to try and help. And he's often very hesitant to kill people, even when that what he should be doing.
He gets less burned as time goes by - partly because disregarding all concern for other peoples lives tends to result in those other people dying way more than he wants, partly because having the role of Midnight Mayor thrust upon him forces him to essentially adopt all of London as "his" group", and partly just from time. He's still far from being un-burned, though - and if he ever did, he'd probably end up with a pretty solid Slytherin model.
Matthew has a Ravenclaw Secondary, with the focus of his knowledge being his magic, and also London as a whole. Matthew loves magic, and cities, and finds it endlessly fascinating and curious. And while he's definitely not the academic type, he is good at creative problem solving and his general approach tends to be to plan ahead rather than rush straight in.
At the same time, he does have a a bit of a Slytherin Secondary Model, so he is capable of diving right in and adapting on the fly. This is largely as a result of the nature of his magic - since intuition is an important part of it, he's picked up this model largely as a way to be better at magic. This model then just happened to be highly useful once he found himself regularly winding up in dangerous situations. It's also of note that it tricky to tell how strong this model is, as some of his ability to work on the fly might come from the Angels.
THE BLUE ELECTRIC ANGELS
Angels: Gryffindor Primary, Gryffindor secondary
The Angels are a Gryffindor Primary, although not the standard one. The Angels aren't big on fighting for a cause, or even morality. What they are is an almost literal representation of freedom and impulsiveness. Essentially, the Angels moral code could perhaps be summed up as, if that they want to do something, therefore, they will do it. Reason and consequences don't come into the equation at all, and neither did right or wrong. In a way, the Angels are Gryffindor volatility to the extreme.
Matthew though, is one hell of a morality chain for them. And in some ways the Angels have also taken on some of Matthew's morals. Before merging with Matthew, they wouldn't have cared about morality at all. But after, they do recognise the need for some limits. They don't want to destroy things just to watch them burn, and they recognise that there are things out there that are wrong. And while effectively ending up with someone else acting as their moral compass possibly should have caused them to become Stripped, the fact that they regard Matthew as part of them has prevented this. Matthew is them, and so therefore relying on him is really just relying on themselves.
They're also a Gryffindor Secondary, just to make this particular mix even more volatile. Not only do they have a moral viewpoint that boils down to "we are free and we do what we want", they also go about it by essentially charging straight in and going straight for the "burn everything" option. They're also a lot quicker (and more willing) to kill than Matthew is.
