Hogwarts House Sorting (Sorting Hat Chats)

This post is for detailing meta on my character's Hogwarts Houses according to the Sorting Hat Chats system, which sorts characters with a Primary and Secondary House, with the Primary being defined by motivations and why they do things, while the Secondary is defined by methods and how they do things.

Istas

Ravenclaw Primary, Gryffindor Secondary

Istas is a Ravenclaw Primary because she absolutely does not trust her own instincts and gut when it comes to making moral decisions. She is Waheela, and because she views her Waheela instincts as ultimately suspect, Istas does not see herself as capable of making judgement of her own.

What she does have instead is a Ravenclaw's constructed system of morality. When growing up, this would have been that of the Waheela culture - a system where it is the strong against the weak, where what is necessary to survive is what is good, where one must be powerful and tough. But as she grew older, Istas came to see this system of wrong and abandoned it in favour of a system that views the values of civilisation as good - collective survival, the strong helping the weak, and that the killing of others should be reserved for those who deserve it, not those who are simply in your way.

But as Istas was well aware of her own limitations in being able to understand the values of civilisation, this later expanded to using individuals as a guide, who can tell her when it is correct to act and when it is not. Verity is one such person.

Her Gryffindor Secondary is quite clear - Istas does not like to plan, or think deeply about her strategy. She likes to go in hard, and fast, and deadly. Anything and everything will be met head-on, to much carnage.
